4wd problems

After searching previous Service 4wd posts I decieded to post my own. I have already replaced my in dash switch so I have something far worse to deal with.

I went to put my truck into 4hi and the light indicator blinked, then stoped, then all of them went off and I appeared to be in 4lo. I found out that if you pull the ATC fuse from the panel, then turn the key to the on position that it will reset the actuators and encoder motors back to 2hi. I now think that I am in 2hi but my front driveline will still turn when I put the truck into drive. Is this normal for my year truck?

What is the cause for my truck to engane into 4wd and get stuck?

Can't help you with the cause since you replaced the switch already. You could have a bad replacement. Most can be fixed by taking them apart and soldering them. If it's not the switch, I'd see if you have a code.

Regarding the front friveshaft, my front driveshaft spins in 2wd but it is from friction in the drivetrain. It is just freewheeling.

Thanks. I had a tech search for a code but there was not any codes stored.

Anyone else no if my front driveline is suppose to spin while it is in 2hi?

I had a similar issue. I took it to the dealer assuming it was a bad switch. Instead, the dealer found the wires under the truck (I assume at the transfer case) had been chewed by an animal (probably my new dog). They repaired the wires and it fixed the problem.
