Problems keeping centercaps on?

Any of you guys have trouble keeping your center caps on?

The train tracks ate 3 of mine so I just took the other one off, and I cant seem to keep it on, they wont screw on... I have 4 GMC ones that I got when I bought my rims and I cant get those to screw on either!

Anyone have tips to make them stay on?

There are two types of center caps. One for the steel wheels and another for the Alloy wheels and they aren't interchangable.

If you have the correct caps, make sure you don't over tighten the plastic lugs. They only need to be slightly snug to hold the cap in place.

Someone had pretty much stripped the plastic threads on my '99 GMC when I bought it.

My solution was to take some electrical tape and put one tight wrap on each lug nut's outside threads. It was kinda time consuming (32 lug nuts takes awhile) :D but it gave something for the remaining threads on the caps to bite into. Definitly a summertime job since the electrical tape is more friendly in warmer temperatures. They were still holding when I traded it for my mid-life-crisis purchase :D
