rusting mufflers?

I'm looking to buy a flowmaster 70 series muffler and all I can find is that they are made of Aluminized material and not stainless steel. Will this rust or will it be okay like a stainless steel muffler?

I think it depends on what kind of driving you do and where you live.  If you do a lot of city driving, they will probably rust on the inside a lot faster since water won't have much time to evaporate.  If you live in the north, you probably have salt thrown on your roads and that will eat them too.

I've had mine on for about 2yrs now.  It looks a little rust on the seams, but the body of it isn't bad.  I'm guessing this muffler will last 3yrs for me.  I live in oklahoma so it doesn't see much snow and I drive a lot on the highway.

When this muffler needs to be replaced, I'm going to buy another flowmaster and have it ceramic coated inside and out by Paul Barry Motorsports in GA.  It should last a long time then.
