Noisy lifters

I own a 2001 GMC Sierra C3 6.0L Auto. AWD

Bought it used last year. Never used to notice this until lately that on cold start up this engine has some noisy lifters. It goes away once the coolant is up to temp.

Is this common with the 6.0's or do I have a problem here?

Its normal for a ticking sound at start up for the gm 6.0's. If your truck has under 36k miles, and your really worried about it, call gm and they will most likely give you the 100k mile waranty on the motor.

If this is the infamous cold start knock, you can drive it with that forever with no problems.

 

Since you're no longer under any kind of warranty, I'm not so sure GM is going to give an out of warranty used truck an extension on the warranty for the engine.

Not expecting them to tell me any thing I don't

already know.

A couple of guys at work have noticed this with their trucks also and they are

different brands. Must be a common thing....
