My service ride control light came on in my 2001 6.0L 2500 Suburban late this summer. My Chevrolet dealer diagnosed that the ride control module needed replaced. At the time I didn't have the extra money, and the Chevy service manager said it was okay to drive. I just had my state safety inspection done, and the inspection mechanic replaced the module (which was purchased from the same dealer that diagnosed the problem ~ part was ordered using the VIN.) The dash light is still on. What is the procedure for re-setting the light? Is it possible that riding it for all that time do further damage?

You can't just plug in a new module and drive off. It needs to be setup (programmed). If they didn't do that, and only the dealer can do the programming, that *may* be your problem.

 

If the light is still on after programming, the problem was misdiagnosed. Driving it shouldn't have caused added problems if it was the module.

Thanks for the reply, I'll take it back to the dealer to let them deal with the reprogramming.
