SERIOUS car alarm question

Hi guys,

I need some help finding a good alarm for my truck. I woke up this morning to find my hood open and driver side window busted. Someone took it upon themselves to steal the headlights out of my '06 Denali. There are a bunch of idiots around here with regular GMC Sierra's that put Denali grills on them. I guess one of them decided to complete the look on their truck by stealing my headlights. I've already paid over $200 for a new window and tint. The quote from the stealership for new headlights and wiring (since they literally ripped the wiring with the lamps) is still over $1000. My insurance will cover it but I want to try and prevent it from happening again. I can post pics for those who want to see what they did.

Back to the point. I went by a local vendor that sells DEI Viper and their high end system with an audio sensor will run me around $550 installed. I have been researching car alarms tonight and been reading that Precision and other alarm makers are just as good or even better than the best DEI has to offer for half the price. What do you all think or recommend?

thanks for reading about my crappy day

***mods, not sure if this is right forum. please move if its not but I need as much help as I can get on this subject***

I had a viper a couple years ago with no complaints. Wouldn't mind putting another one on. I will definately do the install myself though at least that way I'll no it's right. (Soldered conections, proper wire looms, correct wire colors, and no wire hacking in general.)

I've heard nothing but good things about Viper. I've owned several trucks over the years and I've had Cliffords installed in all of them. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

get one with the autopager.. that way it will page you when the alarm goes off.. an alarm is useless when your thousands of feet away indoors

I used to love Vipers but now personally I think they are s**t.. the last 2 I had crapped out on me.. the one I had on my show truck, the brain went down in it and it would drain the battery in 24 hours.

I had a Clifford in my T-bird, then three Vipers in the next rides. No problems with either. Now I'm thinking of replacing those pins with long screws so that it's not a matter of seconds to remove the lamp housings. Hope those jerks that ripped you off get their dues in short course!
