2500HD Front Diff/Crossmember/Frame Question

I've seen this asked regarding solid axle swaps but, can anyone comment if:

 

1. Is the frame for a 2500hd/3500hd 2wd and 4wd the same?

 

2. Is the front crossmember same?

 

3. Is the front crossmember bolted in and "swapable" or welded?

 

Looks like 2&4wd share the same upper & lower control arms, spindles, steering, etc. Is a 2wd simply lacking the axles/diff/shaft/transfer case? I have oportunity to get a 2001 2500HD CC/LB 2wd 6.0 for a VERY good deal. A VERY good deal, so if a conversion is not possible I will just keep it 2wd. Anyone know if the front ends can swap out?

You're better off putting a straight axle under it for taht much trouble. Trust me

To trust you would imply that you have experience regarding both methods of conversion, can you then eleborate on any of the three primary questions of the thread?
