2002 trailblazer front end clunking

My wife has an 02 trailblazer, short wb,4.2L. When pulling into a driveway or over a curb the front end will clunk. It does this at low speeds. Any ideas? I think it has about 60,000 miles on it. We bought it used at about 50,000 miles.

Probably the front stabilizer bar end links. If this is the problem, replace with aftermarket Moog links, as they can be greased, and the OEM's can't. They cost about $25.00 apiece and are an easy DIY. Might as well change the rear also.

Could also be the front sway bar bushings.

Both suggestions have been the fix to most front end noise. And the problem occurs quite frequently.

I had a clunking sound also from my 1995 Sonoma. Looked under the front end and the connecting link (bolt) was rusted so bad it sheared off. I just went to a local auto store and got a new one (Parts Master) for $10. Put it in myself in about 20 minutes!

Michigan2500hd - did you figure out the front end noise? Was it the stabilizer bar end links and/or sway bar bushings?

Envoy Fan - when I'm looking at the Envoy's front end from underneath - what are the stabilizer bar end links and what are the front sway bar bushings? My wife's Envoy is now making a similar front end noise that Michigan2500hd described above. Thanks!

Yes it was the links. Problem was that even after the dealer replaced them ( under warrenty) the noise was still there. So we took the Trailblazer back in and after they inspected it again i was told the mechanic didnt tighten the links properly. Its been fine ever since. Thank you for the info!!

Thanks for the feedback. I changed the links on my wife's Envoy yesterday and the clunk is gone. If those factory sway bar links had grease fittings the clunk probably would not have occurred. I installed Moog sway bar links and they have the grease fittings.
