X-Cab Sub Enclosures...

As of now, I have a downfire box with two 10" subs. I bought some catchall-xtreme floormats the other day, and now my subs are hitting the mat. I already have my box raised about as far as it can go without raising the rear seat, which I'd rather not do. The only other solution I can think of is to build a different box. I want to build one that fires up, but still fits under the rear seat. Has anyone here ever done this before?

I would think it would be a lot simpler (and cheaper) to just get different mats.

Or cut a section out of your existing mats, and then get some good rubber epoxy, and put them back together, only shorter.

I've seen a couple of upfiring boxes (none here on the board), but I've never heard one that sounded decent.

You can get ones that will conseal great from Crutchfield.com I've seen them in there many times. I've been debating lately on whether to get the ones that come with speakers or order my own speakers and amp.

I don't think it would be that expensive to build a new box, considering that I can salvage most of the mdf pieces from my current box. My DF box has always been raised. If not, the subs will hit the carpet. But with the new floormats, I don't have enough clearance even with the box raised.

I built an up firing box, even covered it with carpet (looks like crap). Fits fine even when sitting on my mats.

I'll hunt for some pics...

Please don't make fun of the carpet I was limited in colors and expertise. :jester:

I noticed the mats aren't in there but it fits with them. (Approx. 1/2"-3/4" thick)

Also if you want the plans for it I have them somewhere too. I can provide them in ".pdf" form.

Looks pretty slick to me and I'd love the plans for that box. I'll probably be modifying it a bit since I'm using only one 10" sub. I'll mount the amp where the other 10 would be or buy another one.

So the PM thing didn't work, I will try emailing it tonight.

Also those are 10" subs, the box is not ported and is 1 cubic foot air space per sub. (That was what Rockford Fosgate recommended for my subs in a non-ported box.) If you plan on putting in a 12" sub I think it will fit, barely, but the interior volume may need stretched.

P.S. the plan is using exactly 1/2" MDF, which I didn't think about not having exactly 1/2" so when I built mine using 5/8" some other tweaking was needed.

Thanks again for the box plans. Should be a fun project. 1 cube per sub is perfect. I have about .75-.80 cubic ft. per side right now, so the extra space is a plus.
