161k miles and counting...

Hey folks!

 

I'm an avid reader of these forums, and although I don't post much, I do find myself coming here first with any issues I might have. I just turned 161,000 miles on my 99 silvy 5.3, and I've gotta say....I've never had a vehicle perform as flawlessly as my truck has. I replaced the plugs at 60k miles, and now, 100k later, the replacements are still perfect. Plug wires are still workin like a champ. The 5.3 liter uses exactly 1 quart of oil every 7500 miles, and this has been my normal oil change interval. I did have a transmission problem at 130k miles, but only because the dealer installed the nickle-plated yoke assembly incorrectly. I finally have my first problem: I believe the fuel pump if finally going out in the truck. I drive my truck hard, and in the end........I'm a happy camper.

This can't possible be true, because we all know that Chevy cannot make a decent vehicle, only Toyota can do that!

Haha, that's what I thought.....guess there's always exceptions to the rule!

 

My brothers 2000 tacoma runs like a champ tho, and it cracks me up that the '07 tundra will have a 5.7l engine.....a 350! haha

My 91 only has 257xxx on it. Just about broke in.

150 thousand on my 5.3l 1999 Z71. Very fue issues and I absolutely love it. I plan on driving this thing for a very long time.

Sold my 2000 Tahoe right at 100K miles and never had a lick of trouble out of her. Bought a 2006 Tahoe and just rolled 1000 miles on it... hope I have as good of luck again...

Same here. Only 60,000 on a 2002 5.3 z71, but not really any big problems. Truck really drives like the day I brought it home...wish it didn't then I'd have an excuss to start looking for something new.

Up to 162k this week. Can't say no major failures as I had the trans built. It didn't strand me like the fuel pump did, just slipping frictions. I've done quite a few upgrades but few unreasonable repairs. Besides the standard wear items it has been good and reliable and I tend to drive my vehicles pretty hard. Nothing I would consider abusive but now that I have the tranny and torque converter it's just so much more FUN to drive

 

Hoping to get well over 200K.
