hey guys, i just registered.  have a few questions you guys might be able to clear up for me.  i have a 99 z71 and i had the transfer case fluid changed to the blue kind.  recently had the 30,000 mile service and they changed out the transmission fluid.  they refill it with dexron III.  is that correct or should they have fil the transmission with the blue fluid also?  the reason i asked is that since i got my truck back, it shifts harder than before.  thanks for your help and sorry so long.

The blue stuff that you are referring to is called automatic transfercase fluid and that is what belongs in it.

I'm pretty sure that the Dexron III is what goes in your tranny but I'm not sure on that one.

Welcome aboard!

thanks for the reply yZR2k.  i called the dealership today and told them that since the 30,000 service my truck has been shifting hard from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd.  they told me that they have to re-program something with the timing.  has anyone had any trouble with the hard shifting?

I had the transfer case fluid changed in my truck to eliminate some noise.  It worked well...

I also had the dealer reprogram my tranny to eliminate what I felt was early shifting or "bogging".  I had it done right after I had bought the truck.  My 1/2 ton shifts harder than the 1500HD I test drove last Friday so maybe when they changed the shift points they also changed the firmness too...

I really haven't paid that much attention, and it differs by how hard I'm accelerating, but I'm guessing around 40-45 mph.  Maybe less if I'm just loafing along...
