Goodyear Wangler ST vs Cooper HT

Recommended Posts

I currently have the factory Wangler ST. Local Tire place is trying to sell me the Cooper HT stating that they are better than the Wanglers. What is the feedback here concerning these tires? Price difference is $283 (Wangler ST) vs $250 (Cooper HT).

I've been happy with the STs (Got 50K on them). No experience with Coopers.

Getting the new tires tomorrow.

Thanks

I've had both the Goodyear Wrangler ST's and some Cooper tires, although they were the LT's not the H/T's. The Coopers seemed to hold up better than the Wranglers and had better traction (I know not comparing apples to apples). The Wranglers were OEM tires on my old pickup and they wore out fairly quick. I do travel dirt roads alot so that may have been a factor.

The Wranglers were rated here on the Tire Rack website:

Don't seem to have a very high rating?

Are your prices listed for all four tires mounted and balanced? If so, that's some good prices. What size of tires are they? The last time I had new tires put on (265/75 R 16) it was $400, and I thought that was a good deal.

For the price, I might recommend going with the Coopers?

Goodyear Wangler ST vs Insert any tire here, Which is better?

Any tire is better than a Wrangler ST. Wet streets might as well be ice to those tires :chevy:

I took my wranglers off my truck way before they wore out due to the back end kicking out almost every time it rained.

I had the same problem with Goodyear's. I made sure my new truck didnt have them on when I bought it.

I have heard good things about the Coopers. They were my second choice for my old truck I settled for Michelin LTXs.

Compare New Wrangler ST's to any Rayon Belted Bias Ply Tire, and the Bias ply wins, heck, the tires on my Camper are better then Wrangler ST's, The Tires on Bicycle are better.. See a Pattern here...

I have Cooper Snows for my 01, they were the only ones that made them in 235-16's, the base tire size for the truck, No problems with them, and they were lightyears better then the goodyear glazed donuts.

I liked the LT/X's on my 97, got a little load rating, rode nice and wore like iron, and this should be the summer I retire (sic) the Goodyears.
