Hey, gm-tech or anyone else, is it absolutely necessary to remove the fuel rail and injectors when removing the intake manifold? Is the fuel rail really in the way? If the rail is left on will it be damaged some how? Thanks for any insight you have on this.

What year is this? I would think if you can get the bolts off with that stuff there then do it.

The reason I'm removing the intake is to replace the rear bank knock sensor and build the water dam with RTV. While I'm in there might as well replace both front and rear sensors. Is there a brand of knock sensor y'all recomend?

The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injection rail, and fuel injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the manifold as a complete assembly.
