We all have heard about full size truck changes, but what about the colorado? Will they offer flex fuel or more mpg? I passed on this because it only got 2 mpg's better then my fullsize.

I heard for 2008 the colorado/canyon/h3 will get the 5.3 but don't know if it will be flex or not. The guy is a contract employee at the proving grounds in Mi. A friend of my buddy. He did also say the new f/s front end will look just like the avalanche front end. We will see.

Engine size increases 3.7 and a 2.9 I think :driving: Major powerhouse now.

They need the full size truck interior in them. I might consider looking at them then but not the generic interior they have now.

I had a Colorado before the Silverado - I really liked it. It was roomy for a small truck. Lack of power was the biggest issue.

I wouldn't bet the farm on the 5.3. With gas prices the way they are I would put more money on the 4.3 than anything. Maybe a 4.8 to give people in the Dakota market another option.

i had a 2006 trailblazer with that 4.2 270 HP I6, and ive test driven the colorado with the 240HP I-5, which is just the tblazer engine with a cylinder lopped off, and it does get better fuel mileage, but you lose that when struggling to pass or get on the freeway. GM most likely has plans for either the 4.8 V8 or the 4.2 i6 in the next colorado

the colorado really isnt too much cheeper either. Why would they put a 4.8 in the colorado? doesn't the 4.8 get the same mileage as the 5.3 (i got that from chevy.com, i havnt experienced this). Nicer interior and a 5.3 and i would have gone towards a colorado maybe, but then, that would up the price to be about the same as the silverado i just bought.

Naw, the 4.8L is generally a little better in gas. Would probably be a lot better in gas in a little truck. I still don't believe we'll ever see V8s in these trucks.

I wonder if GM will ever offer a regular cab longbed version of the Canyon/Colorado? I would run down to the dealer and buy one as soon as they hit the lot if GM would build it. Doesn't Gm realize that a lot of small truck potential buyers want a long bed? It would be easy for GM to offer it as an option. The longbed could easly be put onto the extended-crewcab chassis. GM is missing out on a lot of potential sales in my opinion by not offering this option.

No long bed version in the near future. Last year of the S10, we built very few longbeds. Evidently not as many people want them after all. As far as doing it easy, you would still have to build the box, which wouldn't go through the current box line, would cost millions for a few sales. Just not worth it.

I do not understand GM logic have they not looked at Dakota sales? They sell very few V-6 daks people buy daks for the v-8 I know I did and I have owned nothing but Chevys till now . Some of you people are way off base saying you can't have power and milage the worst milage vehicles I have ever had have been the lowest powered ones. If GM would put V-8s in Colorados the would out sell that worthless excuse for an engine they put in them now. But typical GM beancounter thinking is giving an entire segment to dodge for something that wouldn't cost them much but they are sooooo afraid that it might hurt Silverado sales. THE PEOPLE RUNNING GM ARE IDIOTS, and they blame the unions for thier woes, unions are part of it but a big part is not giving people what the people want but rather what GM wants the people to buy. You can build a vehicle that is somewhat expensive if people are fired up about it. Plus how much more dose it cost to build a 4.8 than a 3.7 I tell you a 4.8 cost less to build because it's simpler and has less exotic materials. GM MADE A DODGE MAN OUT OF ME! :)

I disagree, also what about the talk of the chrysler name going away? The new dakotas are ugly and I dont think they are selling all that well. I really dont believe the market for mid size trucks is all that. What about the quality of mopar transmissions? Every one I know including my wife 3 previous jeeps have horrible trannies, which is why we no longer buy ANYTHING chrysler! CHEVY MADE DODGE ITS B$TCH A LONG TIME AGO! GM is doing quite well now! How's chrysler-bailed out by mercedes?
