Plus sized Wheels for 1500 Silverado

I have a 2005 Silverado crew cab reg bed. I had some 22's put on it without any modifications. I am having a problem with the wheel rubbing, but only on one side, the front passenger. I've taken the truck to 2 different dealers and of course their first answer is always that the tires are too big. I would probably agree with them, but I've seen quite a few people around here with these tires and none seem to have a problem. Furthermore, why is it that its only rubbing on ONE side. They all said nothing's wrong with the shocks, or ?????If anyone has these size tires any info on modifications or change of shocks or?? would be helpful. I will post some pics of the truck once I figure out to put a photo on the site. Thanks for any help you have

Could be that passenger side is lower and needs to be adjusted up?

You could do this by taking a measurement on both sides and then adjusting the keys so that the truck is level.

It's all about the offset. One of the guys @ the shop and soon the wife to. 1500 2wd w/ Mc Guaghy's 4/6 deluxe drop on 285/35/22... but would not have work if it did not have a +40 offset!!!

Did you just buy the rims from a place without figuring out what you needed for backspacing?

Is backspacing another word for offset? I wasn't aware of all these things. My daughter's boyfriend worked for a tire/rim place and they said it shouldn't have any problems.

Okay.........you're the second person that has mentioned something about an "offset" to me today. What exactly is an offset? I think I'm finally getting some answers here. Trying to get as much info as i can , the dealers obviously don't know what's going on. The rims are 22's and the tires are Nitto NT420S, size 305/40/R22.

How is the offset adjusted? There's been a mention off adjusting the "keys" on the truck. I have a coil/spring sset up in front, not torsion bars. It is a 2wd truck, not a 4wd or Z71 pkg on it.

Hmm, I'm surprised you are having any issues with that size tire. I know a lot of guys put on 305/45-22's and do have a little bit of rubbing, but they are usually ok with the 305/40's?? You probably just need to trim a little bit of the plastic, or another solution is to use some little tie downs to fix it. A lot of guys have done this over at suvworld. You may want to do a search over there.......

What do you mean by "tie downs". What's happening is that the when the tire hits the inner lip of the outside fender, it brings the metal lip down alittle and then after that, everytime it hits, the sharp metal lip sticking down shaves the outer rim of the tire. :D I will look into all these suggestions you fellas have posted. Anymore suggestions are always welcome. Thanks for all the ongoing help

Well here is a couple pics, they cut off about 1" from the bottom and used cable ties to hold the liner back.

Thanks for the pics. I wound up taking the truck back to where I purchased the tires and they sent me to a guy that rolls the fenders up. I don't have a metal to plastic type lip underneath. It is metal to metal and it is also welded together. So far so good. The tire shop replaced the shredded tire too. The next thing I'm gonna do is replace the front with some gas shocks. The front ends on the 2wds just bouced all over the place when hitting a dip especially on the freeways.
