hoorders Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Hey everyone, My four wheel drive was working fine and now all of a sudden its not engaging the front axel........The front axcel light on the floor shifter is not lighting up either. My truck is an 88 gmc s15 jimmy 4x4........automatic with a 4.3 in it. Any ideas what this might be??..........
sflichel Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 My 87' S-15 p/up is controlled by vacuum, passenger side inner fender, looks like a crusie control vacuum diaphragm. Thats where I would start looking, check the vacuum lines etc. I imagine there is also a vacuum switch that operates the diaphragm when you select 4X4. Of course, if yours is the same as mine.

ChevyTech007 Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 There is a vacuum switch on the top of the transfer case that can cause this. It is a 3 port switch that supplies the vacuum to the vacuum diaphragm.

Anyways all works fine again.............thanks very much!!!!!!!................
