how to hook up amp- trailblazer

Looking to hook up a amp in my wifes Trailblazer, but not sure where i should tap into to get a signal for the amp. its a 02 trailblazer LTZ without the bose system. should i just tap into the rear speaker wires with a line convertor? the stock head unit has the in-dash 6 disc changer if it makes a differance, thanks for any pointers.

That's what I'd do if I wasn't replacing the head unit. Get yourself an infinity basslink, which has speaker-level inputs (along with line level inputs). It'll be the best $220 you ever spent. Includes 10" woofer, 10" passive radiator, and I think a 200w subwoofer amp. Has just the right adjustments on it too.
