Well i have been wanting to get a different sub for my truck for a while now so i bought one made by MTX that fits behind the seat in my crew cab. I have the Bose system and was just using a 800 watt Kenwood and a 12" sony and a 8" JL audio sub. The new MTX box does hit a little harder but i just dont have as much low end as i did before. The guy at Dukes said if i wanted to trade in the MTX subs he would put some JL audio subs in the box for 1/2 price. Are the JL subs any better than the MTX subs? Would i get better bass from them? The only reason for getting the new box was to free up some space in the rear but at the price the new box costs i expected more from it.

Hey,personally i LOVE JL stuff,i like the sound better than the MTX...my friend has the mtx 5500 and i have a w3v2 both 12 inch..and the mtx hits good but the lows are nothing compared to my JL w3v2...i prefer JL over mtx IMO...

It's say it depends greatly on the level of sub you purchase.

MTX has some great subs, and they also have crap.

JL is no different. Their low-end stuff leaves a lot to be desired.

As usual, you get what you pay for.

Ok, now that i installed a pac audio line convertor it sounds amazing for just two 10" subs. ( plus the factory Bose sub) Hits so hard now that i cant see out the mirrors when the bass hits, lol. I guess i am happy for now, at least untill i need new speakers for the rest of the truck.
