Black Touchup Paint?

Ok i just washed my truck and of course now i can really pickout the deeper scratches from use...what do you guys reccomend for touching this up...if there is such a thing?

Dupli-color makes small bottles of touch up paint. Comes with a small brush on one end and like ball-point pen type of thingy on the other end for touching up fine scratches.

now here is the question...does it end up looking worse with the touchup because it doesnt match the color exaclty than it did with the scratches...also what is the lifespan of the touchup...

Code 41 GM black is the easiest color to touch up !

 

Try a bottle of gloss enamel model paint or just about

any gloss black enamel solvent based paint and use a fine brush.

The problem with most touch up paints from the auto supply

store is they are base coat and you must apply the clear coat

over the top. A real PIA !!

 

I just buy a pint of PPG GM code 41 black enamel at the auto

paint store and a few fine artist brushes to keep my dads and

my black beauties in shape !

That sounds easy....haha....ok if i go get the pint of ppg gm code 41 black enamel paint at the auto store i can just touch up the scratches....do i need to wash/wax/sand(please dont say this one)/ clearcoat when finished...?????

 

sorry i have NO knowledge on this subject but so far it sounds pretty easy...with the touchups do they look any different from the normal paint?

Ya know.... I have yet to check out that Duplicolor brand

touchup paint pen deal that BLK described.............

 

I am wondering if its straight gloss enamel paint or the

flat base coat then clear coat stuff ????????

 

Gonna have to stop by the parts store and read the label !

 

BTW: If you have a few chips or deep scratches down to the

primer/bare metal a quick stripe of touch up paint is a easy quick

fix.

 

As far as sanding and all that its best to let a pro mess with

it. If you don't know what your doing you can mess it up bad !

But if your experienced and have a bunch of scratches that are

not too deep or brush car wash marks (black shows it ALL!)

a wet sand and a machine buff with

compound and ebony (to remove swirl marks), then a shot of

3m Liquid machine or hand glaze and it looks like new !

(Bet ya can't tell I used to detail cars eh?)..........geo

Duplicolor doesn't sell code 41 black...its a universal black and is darker so you will see it. If GM would put some paint on thier vehicles there would be something there to buff out.

A friend of mine has a Red 99 Blazer that someone keyed. He bought some kind of wax made by Turtle Wax along with some other kind of wax by turtle wax that looks like lipstick. Im not sure what its called, but its a harder wax like a crayon that you rub on and fill in, then apparently buff off and use the other wax. You cant even tell someone keyed his truck anymore. I need to find the black version for my work truck. Stupid peacocks think its funny to sit on the truck and hood and crap all over it while scratching it with its feet. Need to find me a new shotgun

I tried the blue turtle wax stuff and it didnt work for crap. Not worth the money in my opinion.

 

I did buy the duplicolor stuff. Its nice the ball point pin tip makes it easier than using the brush. Cleaner also. Only filled in small chips no scratches.

Yeah...I am in the got keyed....and also want to fix up some scratches around the truck. Needs to be black!

Maybe thats what it was. I didnt see the bottle he was using...and he may be mistaken on the brand when he told me.
