Thats great Ryan! I did some reasearch and Amsoil air filters seem to be the best ones, I need one for each truck so just let me know what I need to do. I heard the filters had a foam element on the outside is that true? I live down a gravel road so thats important to me :)

:sigh: I've used Amsoil products for a couple of years now and I do it by paying only $20 per year to buy direct from Amsoil. Their number is 1-800-777-7094 and their Tech support is 715-392-7101. You get their products at dealer cost and you pay shipping, unless you happen to live near one of their warehouses (like Orlando, FL near me), in which case you can go there and pick it up and pay no shipping. It's a great deal. I do use a K&N air filters though, as I think you can't beat them, esp. with the warranty they have. Good luck!

(The 800 number above is the "product order" number, but tell them what you want to do and they will direct you to someone who will sign you up.)

Amsoil has a website where you can order or do a parts lookup. Besides having the part numbers for filters and such, they also have the capacities of the trans, eng oil, coolant etc. Plus info on their products. The link is

Just to relay my recent experience. Granted I love amsoil products and this is the only problem I have had. Recently I opened up my airbox to clean my amsoil foam filter, only to find that the rubber surround that holds it up came unglued and the filter was leaning towards the bottom of the airbox. I had bugs and what not on my MAF. I was kinda ticked about this and the more I thought about how much dirt got into my engine, the more ticked I was. I went to get another filter like I had, but they do not have it listed anymore. Their new one is the EaA123 that is traditional paper looking, but has a thin layer of foam inbetween the paper. They said I can send back my old one and they will credit my account.

They stand behind their products, but I'm just worried about any damage that may have been done to my engine.

My only complaint with the Amsoil filter is that it is very oily. I have one on my T/A and I have tried many times to clean it out to get some of the oil out of it. ANy suggestions?

The best way to clean out the filter is to totally clean it out. I use Simple Green, then let it air dry. Once dry reoil it but do so sparingly. Not need to totally soak it, just work the oil into the foam. That should help with the excessive oil. AMSOIL is no longer making the foam air filter. They have the new EaA Nanofiber air filter out that is just awesome. As with the Air Filter test posted above, it would be nice if they could reaccomplish it with today's newer improved air filters that have come out into the market place. 2004 isn't that long ago, but like most things technology has come a long way in such a short time. Time to reaccomplish the test and see where every stands.
