Gentlemen,

 

Just received my new IR 600 ft lb impact wrench and it is awesome. Takes lug nust off instantly and I love it. My old craftsman was more of a converter than wrench. it converted air into noise.

 

Anyway, for those of us who do the little work chevys require to keep running, a reasonable investment in air tools is very good. they turn a brake job into a joy. I strongly recommend this investment. I love the sound of an air compressor.

When you get realy serious you get a 3/4 inch drive like I have and I plan to add a 1 inch drive one one day as some stuff I work with has very big bolts. I use 1/4, 3/8' 1/2 and 3/4 inch air tools and I am lost without them. My bush hog has a 2 inch bolt with a 1 1/2 inch shank holding blades on and the 3/4 inch drive makes short work of it.

How much does a good air tools set run the average joe?

I paid 80 bucks for a surprisingly good oil lubed compressor. My IR impact (600 ft lbs) was about 100.00. Do not get the department store air tools. Nothing beats IR in my book. Rotating tires now is a fun 20 minute job. No more fighting with lug nuts. Makes the work a pleasure. You gotta have this stuff.

My spouse once asked me why I wanted air tools to work on my cars. My repsonse: "do you really need your fancy sewing machine to sew? You could just use a needle and thread."

Her response: "go get your air tools."
