Need help with Sierra!

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra and am having problems with the lights on the gauges as well as the radio lights. The problem is that whenever is gets dark outside, my headlights turn on, then everything on my dash turns off (illumination). Everything still works its just that I cant see it at night. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

No it is not.

A: All the bulbs could be burnt out...

 

B: The Dimmer switch is bad...

 

Both are easy enough to fix/replace, bulbs are just time consuming.

I would check for a bad common ground for dash lights.

Have you checked the fuse (I am assuming everything is out)? I went around in circles for weeks and finally found that a fuse that looked good was not making a connection--it had not burned out, it had just failed. For test only, swap it with another.

 

The dimmer or headlight switch could be bad if the fuse is good
