JL 12W3v2-D4's and '97 ext Z71

I have a 97 z71 ext cab. I have 2 12W3v2'D4's. I am looking to find a prebuilt box that will allow these subs to be put under the rear seat facing down, so as to not take up all the floorboard in the back seat.

I can find lots of boxes that have this design, my dilema however is the mounting depth for my subs is 6.56 inches. I haven't been able to find a box that has a mounting depth of greather then 6.25 in.

Anybody have any suggestions?

You'll never fit those under the rear seat without them hitting the floor. You might be able to raise the seat and fit them, but you'll never find a prebuilt box for that application. With those subs, you'll probably need to do a forward-firing box. Just my $.02....

Yup...My box filled all the space under the rear seat, with zero room to spare...And the 10" subs barely fit. No way are 12 JL's going to go in there.

Well, unfortunately i can't get the downfiring box because of the mounting depth. But however i did find a box that has the subs firing forward....still under the seat but visible through the window. More than anything i wanted them downfiring for the stealth effect. But....if i have to show off those pretty subs then i guess i can deal with that.

Limo tint in Oklahoma will get you a ticket. Cops have been pretty strict about it lately. I am not too worried about people seeing the subs and getting the idea of breaking in, i have a graet alarm and the truck is garage kept.

I've never once had a problem with the police.

Okay, I've never had a problem with the police about my tint.

I usually have 15% on the front doors, and 5% on the rest.

Sadly that box wont fit my truck. That is the newer body style, mine is a '97. I thought it might work until i compared dimensions between my '97 and my dad's '99, and there is a significant difference.

And about the tulsa police...it isn't the city comps as much as the podunk towns that give me problems. I had a '98 Monte Carlo with limo tint and i caught hell everywhere i went from small town police.

Hmmm, I thought limo tint was legal on the rear windows and back glass...the laws have probably changed since I last checked. Small town cops have nothing better to do than give out speeding tickets and the like.

Yeah, i mainly catch flak on the way up to our lakehouse on Grand. Passing through the small lake towns gets me into trouble.

my buddies shop can get a box for that truck, sometimes with the mounting depth, we will cut the back of the box out behind the sub and just screw and carpet a new piece of wood over the hole, that way you get an extra 3/4" for the sub
