Installed Dynomax muffler

OK so everybody knows that when you buy a new truck the first mod you have to do is a muffler, right? Gotta' let that healthy American V8 talk back to ya'...

 

BUT...wife and I are on a tight budget and I'm sick of dropping $200 on exhaust everytime I get a new truck. SO...I heard that these factory exhaust systems now days are stainless steel and should last a LONG time. I decided the factory piping would be perfectly fine. I went to Advance Auto Parts, and bought a DynoMax 17733 muffler for $40 bucks. Then I went to AutoZone and bought a 12" piece of extension pipe (the DynoMax muffler is shorter than the factory muffler) and some muffler clamps for $15 bucks. Cut the factory muffler out with a hacksaw, put the DynoMax in it's place out in the driveway today.

 

Started the truck... WoW. That's all I can say. I'm not joking, pulling out of the driveway I noticed more power. I didn't have to get on the throttle to climb the slight grade of my driveway anymore. Truck pulls harder even at idle. I can't wait to get it out on the highway tomorrow and see how it drives. This thing is badazz now. And I did it all for $55 bucks!

 

OH...and it sounds sweeeeeeet. I've had Powerflo, Flowmaster, Magnaflow, etc. before. This DynoMax sounds awesome compared to those in my opinion.

Dynomax catalog say's that is teh V6 model.

Well it may be but the inlet/outlet size matched up to my factory piping real good. And it sounds awesome. My only regret it that it's too short. A model just a tad longer would have reduced a little of the in-cab drone. Live and learn I guess...live and learn.
