06 HD trailer pack

When I picked up my truck, I left the brake harness and the 7-4 adapter in my 05 that I traded in, cuz I knew they came with the truck.

 

The 06 came with trailer brake harness but didn't come with the adapter, and the dealer said that for 06, they don't come with the adapter anymore.

 

Now I know that Chevy tries to build them cheaper every year by taking stupid things away like rh door lock cyl's, underhood lights, only putting moldings on the door so it looks really stupid (thanks Ford for starting that). So he may be right.

 

Anyway, can anyone verify if the dealer is correct? Did your 06 come with one?

Only reason I ask is that I'm having a ground problem with the adapter, and I want a new one.

No adapter, i picked one up for like $15.00 at the trailer supply store.

I'd give you mine, but shipping would probably be more than it's worth. Had to go buy a 7-6 adaptor since all my trailers are 6 holers. I've never had a trailer that took a 4 hole plug.

They came with 7-4 adapters?

I knew they came with the brake controller harness, but never heard about adapters.

 

BTW, IMO there is no real reason to include the harness. It is much easier to buy a complete on for your controller. I know when I bought my Tekonsha there was a harness available that pligged into the controller and the fusebox. No splicing, and IIRC it was $15.00-how could you go wrong?

Thanks guys for the responses. I towed my elcamino to Carlisle PA last weekend and had a little trouble with the adapter (from my 05). Guess I'll just have to buy a new one.

 

I thought the brake harness was made to plug in the factory harness some place and the wires were the same color as the controllers for easy splicing???

 

Oh well, that will be the next purchase too I guess, the controller.

 

Oh.. got 12.5 mpg towing about 4000lbs up and down the hills of PA, running 65-70. Not bad..
