Good Day.

I have a :D 2000 1500 Z-71, she has 150,000 miles on her and is in great shape.....

BUT, I have had 2 new alternators put in in the last 3 months, and a new battery as well.

She will run fine..... then the gauges die, radio gets quiet, etc.

I was able to limp to my mechanic both times it tried to die on me.

first time it was charging for him as soon as he started it.

2nd.... nothing, new alt. (145 amp delco) ran fine for 1 week. then the same thing happened.... 2nd new alt. :banghead:

I do'nt know where to go from here.

I wonder about a bad wire.. corroded connection, ......

but I cannot find anything wrong, or dirty/ corroded wires.

Please help me, I need it..... :)

Thank You Thank You Thank You

Check the negative battery cable connection at the engine block. You could have a loose terminal in etiher battery cable, even if it looks clean on the outside. I would almost recommend investing in a pair of new battery cables at this point. You could have internal corrosion at the cable terminals.

could this be a computer problem????

maybe a ECM?

How much will this hurt.......

It appears to have good grounding....

#3 alternator just went in.....

according to all the computers this was the problem.

It is running great now. I hope it lasts.
