2000 Silverado passenger window

Hi All, I went to roll down my windows today to let some fresh air in while it's in the driveway, and the passenger window stopped about 3 inches from the bottom. I can still hear the motor run. The window won't go up or down. I'm gonna pull the door panel and take a look. I've never dealt with a power window before, but think it's probably come off the track? Any advice before I start tearing things apart?

Well, I pulled the door panel, and the glass is in firmly mounted in the track. The cables are loose, so I'm trying to figure out how the whole setup works.

Note: On this model truck, there are no "christmas tree clips" to hold the door panel on, just 2 bolts and the whole thing lifts up and out to come off. Easier than earlier model trucks.

It's your window regulator that has gone out, you will need to replace it. Very common problem with power windows. Yet another cheaply constructed part on our trucks.

Well, after more inspection I found a broken cable on the regulator. I called a dealer in CA (beause east coast dealers are closed now) and they wanted $115, Ebay has them for $50. I guess I'll go that route.

YOu can change it out, just do a search on here and you'll find a few posts about how to change it out.

I just replaced my passenger side one...........same problem......cable snaqpped.

Real easy to replace...........its only held in place with 4 bolts..............make sure you pull the window all the way up and rig something up to hold it up there. You don't want it slaming down when you loosen the little jaws(bottom of the window).
