A local dealer has two brand new Suburban Z71's, both 2005 models. Both Silver Birch, one with gray interior, the other with tan. The tan one has no sunroof, no DVD and does have second row captains. The gray one has sunroof, DVD and second row bench. Both have 3:42 rear ends. Both are identical otherwise, totaly loaded including XM.

The MSRP on both is $49,xxx. The "sale price" advertised on the window is $35,000.

If the one with the gray interior had second row buckets and 3:73 rears, I would be tempted to jump, if I could bargain in zero percent financing! It is still a bit soon for me to get a new buggy, but those prices I feel are pretty decent. They have several 2007 models on the lot and they are sold pretty much at sticker price or just a shade under.

Na, you need a 3/4 ton regardless of the deal.

LIke I said, there are some things that I don't like about them, so they are out for me and you are right. I picture a 2500 with the 8.1 in my driveway in about 5-6 months. Those are still pretty good deals though for someone who is looking.

It is tough finding the exact Suburban I want in the one to two year old market, but one is out there. It will show up!

And when gas goes to $4/gallon in very near future, you will be admiring that parked Suburban with the 8.1 liter monster engine in your driveway all the time.

We sold our first Suburban to free up some cash for investment purposes. We have been buying rental properties and doing quite well with it. I want to get a half dozen more bought and rented, then I will be on the search for another Suburban. We could have kept it, but if there would have been any unexpected "bumps in the road" regarding the investment deals, it would have made things very tight and I wanted to avoid that. We decided that there are zillions of Suburbans out there and we would live without one for about a year to increase the success rate with our business plan.

As for the 8.1 beast and $4 gas, I really prefer the ride of the 2500 and the 6.0, from what I gather, gets just slightly better milage than the 8.1 empty and towing, the 8.1 actually does better, so for a very minimal price difference, why not have the power on tap? Just my thoughts.

As for the deals on the new Z71's I posted, I just thought they were very fair prices and thought I would gather opinion from others. I always love a good deal, but am going to wait for the right time and ride for me.
