Question I cannot get a definitive answer to

Hello everyone,

I am brand new to the forum. I have a question that several people have tried to answer, but are not certain about. If this is not the right section, please forward my thread to the right place.

I just bought a 2001 4x4 Suburban that has the Autoride suspension. My old 1995 4x4 Sub had a body lift and I liked the height and stance. This 2001 is obviously lower overall, but it is also slightly lower in the front as well, and apparently this is normal for stock Sub's from what I have been told.

I'd like to raise the front to even it out at bare minimum, and would like to lift it a little overall with keys and spacers. My main question is what effect if any will it have on my Autoride system? Some have guessed that I will need to "adjust the sensors" while others claim it might do it harm. Still others think my ride will go from smooth to very harsh by circumventing the stock set up with the Autoride feature. Still others have given me the green light with no worries. Needless to say I appreciate the opinions and people trying to help, but I'd really like to find out for certain rather than assuming something that turns out to be wrong.

TIA

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and move this to an area where it might get more responses.

This really isn't a good area to talk about modifications.

Welcome to the forums by the way.

You can level your truck out by cranking the bars a bit and it will not effect the Autoride. Autoride is self adjusting. Cranking the bars will make your ride a little more harsh. There are no sensors to adjust. Autoride is controlled by the BCM(Body Control Module). Everything should work fine as long as you don't fully extend the shocks. As long as you adjust your T-Bars to level the truck out you will be OK. But if you add keys and crank you may fully extend the shock and it will not work properly as the UCA will rest on the bump stop. Hope this helps

Yes it helps, but I intend on getting Ford keys and raising it up around 2 inches, so I am not sure if that will extend the shock too much.

You cannot raise the front end above the bump stop that makes contact with the UCA. This bump stop prevents the front suspension from over extending if the front wheels are off the ground. This stop also prevents you from over extending the front shocks. When you crank your T-bars pay attention to the Stop below the UCA.
