to dry your trucks? I have a black truck so Im trying to find something that is soft and wont create scratches or swirl marks. My truck is brand new with 300 miles on it so the paint is still perfect.

haha yea. I too have a black truck and I use a towel. I know I know..its bad. Microfiber is the best stuff. Won't leave fuzz or nothing. I really needa get a couple big microfiber cloths.

I use to wash my black truck in the late afternoon early evening so the paint surface wasn't too hot, well, still do on my new one, and then use a Dry Soft Chamois to get the water off.

I also have tried that new MrClean autodry, works pretty good, but you can't use it in direct sun light on dark paint!

I've always liked a product called "The Absorber". Most auto parts stores sell them for about $10. Wally World sells them too for around $9, and they have their own generic version for around $5.

I use the california squeegie. Just be absolutely sure the edge of the wiper is clean or you'll scratch the surface. Then follow with the absorber. At least till I can wash my chamois

IMO the Absorber is the best as long as you make sure it contains not grit. If you drop it, make sure you rinse it well. We sell a lot of them but also carry the cal squegee. I have never used it but it looks like a great idea. I hate to admit it, but the Absorber I have was bought in 1977 and it still looks and works great and it has been used a lot. You keep them clean and store them wet in the tube and they will last a lifetime.

All of the above.

A lot of people swear by the Mr. Clean Autodry system as well. That's a no-toucher, so no swirls.

I have one of those chamey things but it gets so soaked that it doesnt dry the whole truck, even if I ring it out. It leaves those wet water streaks.

Interesting. So it appears that swirls are caused in the drying process, not the waxing process?

That might be enough for me to switch to autodry.

You may have a real Chamois, which IMO is harder to work with than The Absorber which is a synthetic "fake" chamois. However they work great and are very easy to wring out.

They could be caused anywhere in the cleaning/polishing process I would imagine...But she specifically asked about drying, so that's all I answered :P

OK so which kind of wax is better, spray on, liquid, or the old fashion harder wax?

That's a very complex question that could take years of internet debate, just to come up with one simple answer.

Use what you feel comfortable with...And you'll never go wrong.

Try what seems to be the best balance of performance and difficulty of use for you.

If you really want it to shine, use a polish, not a wax. Most folks swear by Zaino products. They even make a swirl remover...Thing...(if'n you wind up with swirls)...Main drawback to Zaino would be the price, they're proud of their stuff.

I'll throw the wild card out and answer that I've heard others use electric leaf blowers. I tend to use the California Water Blade followed by the absorber or a micro fiber lately.

I use Turtle wax carwash,Wash and dry with microfiber. It is better to find a quality microfiber.I bought a bundle of "varoom" brand at Target and they are junk. Mequires makes a decent microfiber towel. The good thing about drying with them is the wring out easily. When you wash, it helps to have a seperate rinse bucket.

Any good carnuba wax is good. Mequires makes good stuff. Ive heard people swear by Zaino, like wingnut says. I have good luck with Turtle wax carnuba, then topcoat with Mequires NXT spray wax(thynthetic).
