vin number help

I amy be buying a new truck sooner than I would like :plainsmile: and would like to know what the break-down of vin #'s are, specifically looking for the gear ratio code. I'm looking for 3.73 or 4.11's this time and it'll be another ext. cab 1500.

 

My other options would be to rebuild my engine or replace it with a new Goodwrench motor.

Bruce, the VIN won't tell you more than year, make, model, engine size, and where it was made.  You'll need to get an RPO code list and check the glove box for that type of info.  If you'd like though drop me an email ([email protected]) and I'll decode the vin for you, or if you want a copy of the VIN decoder I'll make one and mail it to you.

are you going to be getting a 99-up or an older body style like your current one?
