plastic mirrors?

I own a 04 2500HD, and have noticed very fine scratches covering the side mirrors. Upon closer inspection I realized that they now use plastic instead of glass.

 

I am sure that the scratches are from me and my son washing the truck and lets say that his sponge hits the ground once and a while.

 

I am going to see if the local dealer will put it through with the warranty.
