i was looking at getting that autotap setup, but what if i need to flash the computer.

You can get it at www.carputing.com.  Its not cheap, is $550 locked to one VIN.  Its $100 for each additional VIN.  Me and a few other guys went in on it and so far I think its great!  Much more versatile than the Hypertech programmer.

so basically if a tsb says to reprogram the computer to raise the idle speed, or change how the tranny shifts, then this would do it? I am assuming that the hypertech programmer is more money right?

Hypertech Programmer will not raise the idle speed.
