Tires for Wife's Z-71 Burban?

Pretty pleased that the Goodyear Wrangler's that came from factory on the Z-71 Burb are still going after 60k miles! But I'm thinking it is about time to replace them. Will keep the P265/70R17's.

- Have REVO's on my HD/CC and really like them. Great in snow and rain and seem to be wearing well @ 30k miles.

- Wrangler's have done us right this time. Wondering if the latest design is treating people right?

- As always I have to throw in the tried and true BFG AT's.

- Anyone having good results with Michelin's on their Burb?

Wife drives ~25 miles of highway one way to work every day. Living here in NE means will need good wet weather and snow traction. Tell me what you think and what you suggest. Thanks, D.

IMO Michelin all the way. I'd say Revos if they were for you.. but I somehow doubt your wife plans on going offroad, and I get the impression that the Michelins (LTX M/S) might be a little quieter and give slightly better gas mileage. Either would be a good choice. Certainly get something better than the junko wranglers (dumping mine soon too!), and BFGs look cool.. but I'm sure most any woman would find them too loud =).

I'd stick with the Wrangler AT/S's

I wouldn't (and don't) run anything but Goodyears on my trucks,I always get great mileage from them.

Why consider anything else when you got over 60 grand on the Wrangler's?

I just replaced the tires on my 03' Yukon. Very impressed with the Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads. Has excellent traction in Rain, Snow, dry conditions. An extra layer of Kevlar for a little smoother ride. 60K mile tire, and they look awsome in my opinion. Very happy with the look and ride.

I have a 2004 Tahoe Z-71 with just over 50,000 miles and the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S.

I've been debating between Revo's and the new Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor.

Does anyone have any experience with the SilentArmor tires?

I have heard nothing but good things about the GY Triple treads. I am thinking about a set for my burb in the fall. I am on Mich's now with about 50k miles that are wearing nice.

I wouldn't have Goodyears if you paid me. Waaayyy too expensive for the junk they put out. I have always ran Firestones and never had a bit of trouble. I like the Destination LE for my trucks.

Michelin = overpriced

Goodyear = total junk

BFG = not necessary for a wife's ride

So I vote for the Bridgestone Dueler Revos. They are safer in the rain and are tough enough to hold up under the Burb.

If it was for you I'd look into the General Grabber AT2. They look and perform identical to the BFGs, but for literally HALF the price. I ran those for a long time and LOVED them.

I would go with the Michelins, I voted for them as this is all I run. I got mine at Discount Tire for $708 with the Road Hazard and all 4 installed and all the other extras. My Tire size is 265 x 70 x16, so they were a little cheaper than the 17's.

This was the best price I could find on them for my 2003 Suburban LT 4x4. I have had 3 pairs of these tires in the past, and they have always lasted past the 60k warranty. They always have given me the very best traction, in snow, rain, mud, and sand. You name it these tires will do it. They are very smooth and quiet on the HWY also.

On my last Car 2000 Yukon Denali, I messed up and went cheap and put a pair of Dunlop Rover A/Ts on my car. What a mistake, the one little, and I mean little snow we had that car was all over the d**n road. It was sliding on any snow and ice, another reason that car had to go. The tires wore out in about 15k, with my normal driving. I had the car aligned every 4 months and the tires balanced and rotated about every 3k, didn't help at all on this vehicle with those tires.

The new Suburban with the Michelins is NIGHT and DAY in the rain compared to the Wilderness LE tires that were on it. I now can keep it in 2wd in the Rain, knowing that I still have control, rather I punch it or not. Before I would put it in Auto 4wd, so that I would not lose control of the car, when it rained. Since the new tires, it hasn't had to touch Auto 4wd.

Thanks for all the input. Spoke with my service manager at dealership and asked his opinion. While he likes the BFG's, REVO's and Michelin's, he reports people getting outstanding miles from the Wrangler AT/S.

He used to work at Jeep dealership and saw same tire put on Jeep Wrangler's (imagine that). Said they were lasting ~30k. But for some reason the Tahoe/Burban/Lanche do great with the AT/S. He's seen them as nigh as 70k miles!

Wife's tires have good tread in middle, but are showing wear around edges. If you stick penny in tread head first, the tread is almost to Lincoln's eyes. But just comes to mid forhead around edges of tire.

Helps that the AT/S are about $30-35 cheaper than other brands mentioned here. Thanks again.

Then your wife has been running seriously underinflated for far too long. Get her to check her tire pressures at least once a week.

Door sticker calls for 30 psi...I've been running them at 32 psi. And for getting her to check tire pressure...she says that what I'm for. LOL
