Best wax

what do you guys think the best wax for a red truck is?

I use 3M Imperial Hand Glaze and 3M Show Car Liquid Wax. Works pretty well on my red truck. Plus you don't have to mail order the stuff unless you want to. I thought I'd get that in before the Zaino guys chime in.

I only use Mothers products, used them on my red ZR2 before I traded it in! Just thought I would also get this in before the Zaino Crew!

I use Mequires. I've also used Mothers and it works just as well. The Mothers Clay Bar works really well for removing "junk" off the paint.

Well, the Zaino Crew has arrived. I use it on my green truck, my brother's white z-71, and the rest of my family car's. I have tried the others and was skeptical about zaino but tried it anyway. I was very impressed with the results. The initial preparation takes a while (washing, claying, washing again, the putting on the zaino.) but I think it was well worth it and it lasts a long time. It is also by far the easiest wax or polish I have ever tried to take off after applying. I think it would make the red look great. Just my $.02

I have a Charcoal Gray truck and I use LIQUID GLASS It goes on easy and wipes of easy and the ruck looks great and seems to protect extremely well against birds and other things that may ruin the finish. I get about 6-8 waxes per can. It costs about $17.00 at Auto Zone

My truck is red, and I have had great luck with Mequires products. I think the secret is to use any good quality product and use it regularly. I have been pleased with the way my paint has held up. My little sport truck is a 94, and it still looks great. Bob

Another view point: I never wax my truck. I wash it as needed. More during "mud season" and once every week or two in the summer and fall. Then once or twice during winter to keep to minimize the salt. I only have 5600 miles on this truck. I traded in my last truck at 48000 miles and it looked great after 3 Vermont winters and never been waxed. I don't think the clear coat needs waxing as much as cars did years ago. Let me your opinions about the clear coat needing waxed. I am open to suggestions. My truck/cap has a lot of surface area and I would rather go hunting/fishing!!!

W2hat about for taking swirl marks out of the paint? Do you guys like waxing by hand or with an electric polisher/buffer?

3M (39009) Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colors for swirl marks. There is also a light color formula (39007?). I found that the dark one works best for red. I use a random orbital buffer with a thick foam pad for polishing. It creates a much more even job than doing it by hand. Unless you have a lot of experience with a polisher, I would stick with the random orbital than the direct drive type polisher...much less of a chance to damage the paint.
