I just traced the plastic inserts that go in there, cut them with tin snips.  They were naturally too big, so I just trimmed and trimmed slowly until they would fit in kind of tight.  They are basicly wedged in there.  You could use some thin wire and twist it around the little plastics posts in the center of the opening and maybe drill a tiny hole in the plastic, at the ends, and run some wire in though it and the screen if you really needed to.  Mine have been wedged in there for over 1 1/2 years and have never come out, so I'll just leave it like it is for now.

God Bless American Ingenuity!!  :(  :)  :)  :)

That is the best idea that I've seen in a long time. I might give it a try on my '95.

Friz,  That mod might not be too hard to do on your truck...  Unfortunatly I don't think it could be done on mine...

Those can look pretty cool.  A lot of guys on the clubgp.com board have been custom fabbing there 5 dollar grilles as opposed to paying the 100 bucks for the name brand SS ones.  I'm thinking of making some in black for my lower valance.

Here are the expensive SS grilles:

I used the gutter guards on my truck after I found out the grille I wanted was over 300 bucks.  The length of gutter guard is just a bit too small to fit across the whole length of my grill but I think it looks alright.

I used 5lb fishing line to attach it to the factory grille, another guy recommended getting safety line from a bike shop.
