Does anyone have the part number for the door emblems for a 2007 suburban? The butthead at the dealer refuses to give it to me. He says I have to show proof that I own one in order to buy parts for it. WTF?

Some dealers are like this, they want the VIN off your vehicle before they'll look up parts for you, especially on newer vehicles. I usually avoid those dealers.

Some dealers are like this, they want the VIN off your vehicle before they'll look up parts for you, especially on newer vehicles. I usually avoid those dealers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Let me explain why we sometimes ask for,or need,the VIN......Because in a lot of cases it allows us to look up the correct part number for you.

Sometimes we need the VIN and sometimes we don't,but a lot of parts guys won't look up any parts without it.They were just trained or taught to always ask for the VIN.

Me,I've been in this business long enough to know when I'm going to need it and when I'm not going to need it,If I need it I ask the customer for it and explain to them why I need it,Sometimes they don't want to give it to me for some reason or another.

Heck I had one guy who told me that I had no right to ask for his VIN and that its a violation of his privacy to ask him for it! Guess what......He got no parts!

Then I had another guy who wanted a U-Joint for his truck,Now U-Joints are hard enough to look-up with a VIN let alone without one,Anyway when I asked for his VIN he told me that U-Joints are all the same (If I only had a Dollar for everytime I heard "The're all the same" ) So I proceeded to the back and just grabbed any ol' U-Joint and sold it to him,Guess what? He came back about two hours later and said it didn't fit! Imagine that I ask him if they were all the same why it didn't fit,He had no anwser but he did have his VIN this time!
