engine swap

I have a 1984 3/4 ton Chevy that just threw a rod. I also have a 1992 Chevy 3/4 ton that has been totaled but has a strong motor. Besides having to change the intake manifold is there anything else i will need to do in order to swap these motors? I was told the exhaust would have to modified, it looks like it would work but i am not sure. Can anyone tell me if it will work or not and what else i might have to do to make this swap?

1st you have to tell us what engine/trans combo you're working with before we can tell you if it'll work. A 350 would probably bolt right in, but if it's a big block you'll probabyl need to do a little exhaust work.

sorry thought i put the motor size both motors are 350's and i believe they are both short blocks

If they're both 350's (doubt they're short blocks, short blocks are block, crank, cam, pistons, long blocks include heads) then they should swap with no problems. Just swap all your accessories, intake, and exhaust manifolds from the old engine to the new one and it should drop right in.

on the 1984 Chevy 350 on the left valve cover there is a silver box that has a wire plug on it containing for wires any idea what this is for. it bolted on top on the cover and where it it hook up at on the 1992 motor

Not sure what it's for, but the valve covers should swap as well, so it won't really matter. However, if your valve covers WON'T swap right over, then just swap heads too. It'll be a little more work, but it'll save you headaches.
