My goal was a 14.X quarter mile...

I got a best of 15.1 and I'm going to call it good for the year before something breaks. Truck is running great though and pulls REALLY hard, I love it. The new 2001 Z06 cam really woke up the mid/high range and helped the low end a little too.

Spinning it up to 6200rpm was a little odd the first couple times but it seems to love it.

Next year will be the higher stall and tranny upgrades I'm sure.

All in all not bad for a 5.3 Z71 on 20's

Haha, awesome! Might be throwing some headers on sooner than I thought... but I think putting my winter wheel/tire combo on would do it. Also, if I removed all torque management... bingo! I just like my tranny functional haha.

Good luck, let me know of any progress man...

Actually with all that it kinda surprised me you didn't break into 14's. What are you dyno'ing at? Do you know?

Good stuff. Im not sure what Wait4me did with my torque management, so I try not to dog the truck very often, esp with no warranty. My tires are 255/70 r16's. I might save some extra cash and get wheels later on down the road. I gotta get back to sleep, gates open at 5 pm today :banghead::cool:

Not sure on the dyno... I really thought I'd hit 14's no problem too, just can't shake that .1 off there haha.

Oh well, couple more goodies and I should hit low 14's easy next year.

Beat ya lol check out my thread

You have a little advantage though, mines a 4x4 and it's stock.

I'm not going to do anything to the engine until I own it, which will be before the end of the year. Then I'm not going to mess with the 5.3, for under $4,000 you can get an LQ9. I'm going to go that route. A custom dyno tune, some tranny work, and if I can get my hands on a SF14 bolt, I'm hoping to be doing mid 14s for around 5-6 grand with good daily drivability and reliability.

You can do mid 14's with a 5.3 easy... and for a lot less than $5000. I plan on hitting 13's on all motor next summer by adding a higher stall and getting my tuning more dialed in. A 5.3 with a Trailblazer torque converter and Z06 cam is VERY good for a daily driver I hear, and that's the route I'm going to take.

Mine is a Z71, but I figure the 4x4 launch makes up for the weight difference. ;)

Don't get me wrong, an LQ9 swap would be awesome... but for the cost work involved I'll stick with building my 5.3 since almost anything I do to this motor can be swapped into an LQ9 later if need be.

I hear you on that, but I've went the cam, headers, etc... route before, and I didn't care for the drivability. I want to go fast, but it's more important for it to be a nice daily driver, meaning quiet exhaust and good power gains at 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. Most engines I've driven with cams and stuff tend to be "peaky".

I also just bought a 6,000lb GVW travel trailer, so towing manners are important. I'm looking to increase power through displacement. IMO, I think it will give me a little better long term reliability.
