New Transfer case Break in period?

Got a new transfer case for my 01 Sierra 1500. There a break in period for a new case?

Are these gear or chain based? I have 150K on mine, can I expect a rebuild in the near future?

You should follow the break in instructions in the owners manual just as if its a new truck.

I thought they were chain driven. I'm at 180K of hard driving and mine seems to be holding up well. Of course I change Autotrak II every 50K so I'm hoping for the best. I'd like to go well over 200K with this truck.

They are chain driven, and using synthetic fluid and taking it easy for the first few hundred miles is always good advice until all the mating surfaces bed in.
