Replace 26 gal tank with 45-50 gallon

That would be nice.  I would hate to have to fill that sucker up though.  It would take 15 minutes (and a second mortgage).

What about the fuel gauge?  Would you have to use all Suburban parts (sending unit, connectors, etc.)?

Damn good question MarkD!  I want to do that same thing, and am very curious what the TOTAL costs would be like?

Also, wouldn't you have to upgrade your gears or run it in Tow/Haul mode to handle the extra weight ;) :D  :D

I am interested in expanding the fuel capacity of my 'as yet unpurchased Sivlerado'.  In searching the Internet, I ran across this vendor.  Don't know any more about them than what I saw on the website, but it looks promising.

www.aerotanks.com

They make a 45 Gallon Replacement for the Short Bed and a 53 Gallon Replacement for the Long bed.

The tank, sending unit/pump from the Suburban would be used.  The gauge is unchanged as it's just an ohm meter 90 ohms full 0 ohms empty (for GM).  The hard part is the tank mount and the filler tube extension from the front of the bed to the tank.

Unfortunately, the TransferFlow website says their larger replacement tank cannot be used on the 1500 due to lack of clearance (2500 and 3500 only).
