I allready looked at the other posts. I would like a little help if you guys wouldn't mind. Can you tell me where my fuel pump and fuel filter are located on my 2005, 1500 SLE. Thanks in advance, Jake.

Fuel pump is in tank and the filter is inboard the frame on the drivers side about 1/2 way between the tank and the engine.

I've been hearing a rumor that on some trucks, GM got the infinate wisdom to move the fuel filter inside the tank...Dunno how much truth their is to that though. Something about the later model years...

Starting in 04 I believe (my 04 has no external fuel filter).

In that case, the Original Poster has no external fuel filter, and both his filter and his pump are in the tank. This means that either the bed must come up or the tank must drop. Depends on what tools you have.

From what I understand the fuel filters in an 05 or newer are in the tank and are non serviceable. Replace it when ever you have to do the pump.

fuel filters on 04 and 07 classic trucks are incorporated into the design of the fuel pump they are non serviceable unless you want to replace the entire pump assembly $$$$$ not to sure on what the setup is on the newer trucks, mostly because nobody has asked for them yet (asst. man @ Advance Auto Parts)

according to the Airtex training i got they claim that this design extends the life of the pump because the fuel gets filtered prior to going through the fuel pump
