roden001 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I recently bought a new (not used) Lux Amp, pn 15114454, and I'm getting ready to install it. From what I've read, since it's new, it'll need to be programmed in order for it to work. However, I've also read that it's dangerous to program a new amp in a vehicle that did not have a lux option from the factory. My questions are these: 1. Is it actually going to be a problem (possibly fry my amp) if I program this thing in my Silverado? 2. If so, what should I do? Can a dealer take care of this for me, or should I search for a Denali somewhere and use it to program my amp? 3. Or should I just sell this amp and buy a used one?

roden001 Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Thanks for the reply. I had actually already looked at that post, and it's the first part of the second post that's got me worried: Quoting sperry: IF you need to program it at all... And it should be used only on an amp out of the vehicle type you're programming it for! This procedure killed an H2 amp's programming when done on one in a Silverado! So unless you're sure, don't program it I was hoping linda might see this post and maybe elaborate a bit on his experience with frying the hummer amp for me. Meanwhile, anybody else got any ideas for solutions?
