Ball Joint replacement

OK, since the weather is reasonably nice I am doing some work on my truck (See my other thread) I am going to replace a ball joint with a torn boot. I want to know of a decent brand, and a good place to get them. I have never done a ball joint before so any advice is much appreciated.

"Moog" ball joints are outstanding

 

carquest has them and others

 

if there is no play in the joint i wouldn't change it over a torn boot. just keep plenty of grease in there.

If there is no play I wouldn't bother, its a big undertaking, doable, but none the less something thats likely requires a bit of patience.

It has just recently torn, so the joint is still functioning properly. But I haven't got to spend some quality time with my truck in a while and with bearable weather this is the "ideal" time for this kind of stuff.

 

So "Moog" is the stuff... One for the car, and one for the truck. (Practice on the car first.)

 

Are there any kind of warranties on these type of parts (Not just Moog)? Likely won't be an issue but sure would hate to find out the hard way.
