and not ot start another post but there's only 8 grease fittings up front on a 02 2500hd 6.0L right?

I have the same noise and was told it is normal. I have found that using high mileage oil help the problem somewhat.

its only when cold when its first cranked for about 20seconds

 

i see i missed some fittings, have to go back and get those

Yes, this is normal. Alot of the GM motors tick. As far as I know it is nothing to worry about. I have heard of motors torn down and nothing is wrong. It is just what they do. Gm Tech's will tell you the same thing.
