GMT-900 HD Cab size

Why is the cab in the HD model still so small? I mean Dodge has the Megacab now and SuperDuty cabs have always been cavernous. I am 6'5" and a majority of my friends are my height or taller. I have a friend with a 2500HD ('06) and a friend with a F-250('06) and when we have to go somewhere with 3 or more people we take the FORD simply because the backseat doesnt make us lodge our knees against the front seats. I was really hoping that GM would finally make their cabs a little larger, but they look to be the same small size. Why can the others make more room in the their HD models, but not GM??

Bigger cabs, smaller beds, bigger still, SUV's...

I'm right at 6' and find the front and back seats in my extended cab plenty big enough. If it isn't take the car. On one hand I'm glad they don't get much bigger, keep trucks for hauling thins leave hauling bodies for the cars. Otherwise our trucks will become more and more car like and less truck like. I need a truck, not an overgrown sedan.

Sorry to add to your dissappointment, but I reccomend you dont even go near the new body trucks at all. I just drove two and sat in a couple at the state fair and left with dissapointment. Im 6'6'' and am looking foreward to a new truck to ride in comfort and some head room over the jeep I am in now. Even the front seat area has shrank in the new ones. Several demos had power seats that had disconnected batteries and I was in the roof. When you drive one I was able to lower the seat all the way and have some comfort, it felt even then that I was sitting at the higest level of the classic model.

What vehicle is made for tall people? Most cars put my head againt the roof, I sat in a monte carlo and was through the sunroof. My situation is similar to big's, large guys riding together, hmm what car can take 6 atvs and four guys in comfort across the state? We end up riding in a 6.0 ford as well, and the new 900's are not any bigger. The new trucks have become a little to civilized, exactly like the tahoes and suburbans, and car like comfort that helps adapt them to a broader audience that want comfort and tvs in their truck.

Are you trying to lay down in them or something?? I'm also 6'6" or 6'7" and about 250. I can sit with plenty of room in the front or back of an '06 GMC CC 2500HD my brother just bought. It's a different story in an Ext. Cab, but GM's CC are big enough. I sit behind my brother, he's 6'4" and I still have plenty of room. I'll agree, I like the idea of the MegaCab and wish GM would do something similar, just for the extra room. Chris

Ha no not turning it into a camper but I was refering to the fit of the new redesigned truck, mostly head room in the front. Keep in mind I only saw a 1500 perhaps the HDs and 2500s might have such additions. I am not the most concearned about the back size as I would not be doing much riding back there. But for the one time I would not be driving I sure would like as much as possible in the back.

I do like the size of the 800 series truck similar to yours, they will continue making them for a while as the "classic" line, I was not a fan of the so called cat eye front but after seeing the new body it looks a lot better to me. So hopefully I will be able to get a deal on one of them as they try to switch over.

And the rear of the CC in the classic did seem biger to me. A major difference to the new body is the addition of a raised area for headroom in the rear, creating a place on the roof you could lean your head foreward on; the difference looked like the height of the front of the cabin reduced by the depth of the sunroof, I wish I had a picture but when you see it you will understand.

I am 6'5" and i dont fit in d**n near any car and i sold my ranger when i had the seat lowered so many times it was bolted to the floor throught the seat bracket. my 06 1500 Ext cab gives me around 2" of head room in front and not a d**n thing in the back. But its my truck so i seldom "ride" in the back seat.

In comparison my fathers 2002 Yukon has no headroom for me at all in the front or the back.

I cant wait to look at the new GMT-900 Sierras because in 5 or 6 years when i go to replace my truck they should have all of the kinks worked out of the trucks.

if iam not mastaken the seats in a ford are smaller then the seats in the gm thats y it seems bigger in the ford. if gm went with the smaller bench in the back i bet u tall guys may be aliitle happer. not sure if iam 100% correct but ive sat in both and my knees are in different spots on the seat maybe that could be it, but i think the gm still has a bigger crewcab?

I used to carpool with a girl who had an F-350 CC. First of all the jostle in the back seat of the Ford was nausiating at 6 AM in the morning. Horrible ride compared to my truck. The trip is 40 miles one way. I am 6' 1" and in good shape. But I had to just fall out when we arrived at our destination. The seat backs have you sitting straight up. Your knees are in your face and the seat sets on the floor. In the GM CC trucks the back seats are called "theater style". They have an 18 deg tilt on the seatback and a rise on the bolster. Of course, you have to sacrifice a little bit of leg room to achieve the tilt on the seat back. There is still plenty. Now I carpool with a guy who has a Silv 1500 CC. Feel like a million bucks when I roll out of the back seat in the morning. The seat is 100% more confortable. As for the Dodge Mega cabs, they have a load of room in the back. My buddy just bought one. They look horrible from the outside. Almost unfactory-like. Like they have been sent to a limo company and not stretched enough. And you still have to stare at that train-wreck of a dashboard in the front. I'll keep my GM crew.
