ABS code?

Here's my problem, the brake warning lamp on the instrument panel is flashing at me. It was flashing 9 shorts and 1 long. I went to the local dealership and asked them about it and they told me it was an ABS code. One of the service techs guessed that it was a code for the brake light switch on the pedal. I replaced the switch and reset the computer under the hood by unplugging it momentarily like they told me to and the light went out. About 2 days later it came back on. This time it was flashing 8 shorts and 1 long. I couldn't find any information about the code and not able to find anything wrong on my own so I let it go. Just last week it started flashing 4 shorts and 1 long. This time, all the local dealership can tell me is that the 4 shorts and 1 long is called an ABS code "41". They suggested I locate some service manuals and look the code up. The service manuals suggest I check with the service techs at my local dealership. Any information about a code "41" or a code "81" would be greatly appreciated. Likewise if you can point me in the right direction of a "code list", that would be appreciated too. Thanks in advance and good day to you!

Better find yourself a place that knows how to diagnose that older system because they sure don't. On the old RWAL system, you don't append the individual flashes, you add them up. In other word, four flashes then one flash would be a code 5, not 41. Nine flashes then one flash would be a code 10.

Been a looooonnnnngggg time. I don't recall what the code numbers mean.

Code 9 = Open Circuit to the Speed Signal

Code 10 = Brake Lamp Switch Circuit

Hope that helps.

My parents' 1990 suburban has a flashing brake light too...can you give me the complete list of these codes, or know where I can get them? That'd be awesome if you could.
