'98 2500 Fuel Pump

Greetings;

This is my first post, have been lurking for a few months, gleaned a lot of info, but

now have a question that I cannot figure out. I have searched the forum, but no

answer that quite fits the bill.

I am the original owner, and have never had an issue in 117,000 miles. The other

day, cruise disengaged, and the truck began to slow down. Hit the resume button in

an effort to turn on, no go. Truck came down to about 20mph, and would not pick

up any speed. Stopped, and checked oil level since I had just changed, it was ok. I

then realized that the typical whine from the fuel pump was absent. It was running, but

very quietly. Truck would start, idle fine, but no movement. Replaced the relay and

still dead.

Is the pump most likely dead or possibly a reset switch that could have been jarred?

I was on a very rough road, could this be the culprit?

My other question, how do I reset the computer?

Thanx in advance...

Unfortunately there is no reset switch like thr is on a F**d. GM uses an oil pressure switch to KILL the pump.

First thing I would check is the FUEL PRESSURE with a gauge. Then go from there, is the fuel filter clogged, is the ground in good shape, is the pump getting battery voltage?

Everything I spit out right now would be a guess. Best bet is to get a good repair manual such as Chiltons, Haynes, Mitchell, AlldataDIY.com etc..., and follow the tests they have for diagnosing the problem.
