Trans temp gauge

My truck has the 4L80E tranny and I was wondering what temps people are seeing on their gauges...

The highest I've seen is 160* and normally it is 140-150*.  I put about 15 miles on the other night when it was cool outside (mid 40's) and it never got over 110*.

The 6.0L comes up to temp about twice as fast as my old 5.3L.  That'll be nice in the winter time, along with the heated seats too...

Here in FL, I'm seeing 160-190. The higher one when towing my trailer. Lowest is 140 when I leave the house before the sun is up.

I see 140 to 150 after I have been driving for 15  to 20 miles. I was surprised at how long it takes for it to come up to operating temp.

My owners manual indicates the normal trans temp

range to be from 160 to 200. I just returned from a

trip to the 4 corners region of the SW while towing

an 8000 lb trailer with the truck at about 6500 lbs and

my guage stayed within that range with the usual

towing temp being 175. A hard climb would get it to about 190/195 and a long downhill run would drop it to

about 150. All these temps are approx, I figure the

smallest increments on the guage to be about 12 degrees.

hburton,

First of all welcome to the forum. Second I have a 1/2 ton with a 3/4 to cluster so I am not running the same weight as the 3/4 tons. Besides I have not taken my truck past 15 miles on the longest trip since I had the new cluster installed so my tranny may not be getting up to the operating temp.
