Most new trucks have more than adequate exhaust system, but if it is noise that you want, all you need is a crappy muffler. Got a friend who took a 3" system off his brand new truck, and put on a custom system, and except for noise there is no difference. Gas mileage and performance have not changed.

Yup I agree, stock systems are pretty well adequate, in fact you hear a lot of storiies of mpg and power going down after the system is modified. Really all you need is to put on a bottle type muffler which is basically straight flow through, and again the only benefit here would be extra noise.

A tune will take advantage of it.

I put a stock muffler on my truck this weekend. It was running without a muffler. It sounded nice at idle but was too loud when I stepped on the gas. Sounded like a redneck truck with those big 4in tips on dual exhaust. Adds no power, only sounds faster but it gets old really quick. It was so nice to drive the truck around this weekend and not have to turn up the radio to drown out the exhaust noise.

Welcome to GM-Trucks

I put a Flowmaster on mine because, IMHO, if you have a V-8, you've gotta have some sort of rumble. Now the volume of the rumble is a matter of personal taste, but there really is no real reason to put an aftermarket exhaust on unless you want performance gains. Then you'll have to swap out things here and there to make up for the new exhaust. Like was mentioned earlier, get a performance tune.

Oh, can you please lose the caps next time. It makes your post easier to read. :D

Im looking to put on a Flowmaster 50 series also. The exhaust system on an 05 is fine, I just want it to sound like a V8. My last car looked fast and sounded like a boat at idle... No one guessed it was only packing a 2.4 V6! LOL. I highly recommend Flowmaster for sound.--- and there not "crappt mufflers", They are designed for less restrictive flow and sound.

What ever happened to "walk softly and carry a bid stick?" I have always had much more fun with a sleeper than with a statement, and the cops seem to leave you alone. After many long haul drives between Pittsburgh and Boston I came to appriciate silence. However, to each their own....

He doesn't have an exhaust system, he had to yell to be heard over his truck. :D

Welcome to the forums, I have nothing constructive to add to this discussion.
